Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 2026

Snip ("we", "our", "the app") is a mobile application that lets you save, organize, and revisit highlights from books. This policy explains what information we collect, why, and how it's used.

Information we collect

DataWhy
Email addressAccount sign-in (passwordless magic link)
Highlights you saveText, photos, and voice notes you choose to save are stored so you can access your library across sessions and devices
Book title / authorOrganizes your highlights by book; optionally looked up via public book APIs (Google Books, Open Library) when you search
Usage analyticsAnonymized app usage (screens viewed, features used) to improve the product — no highlight content is included
Purchase statusWhether you have an active subscription, managed by Apple and our subscription platform

How your content is processed

When you photograph a book page or share text into Snip, the image or text is sent to our processing service to extract the highlighted text and suggest topic tags. This happens over an encrypted connection and the content is not used for any purpose other than returning your highlight to you.

Third-party services we use

Your rights

You can permanently delete your account and all associated data at any time from Settings → Delete Account inside the app. This immediately and irreversibly removes your highlights, voice notes, and profile information from our systems.

Data retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your data is deleted immediately — we do not keep backups beyond what's required for a short operational recovery window.

Children's privacy

Snip is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected here with an updated date.
